What is open data ؟

Open data refers to information that is freely accessible to anyone. It can be used, reused, and published without any technical, financial, or legal constraints, as long as users adhere to the conditions outlined in the legal license under which the data was published

Users of the Saudi Electronic Open Data Portal at Northern Borders University can access open data free of charge at their own risk. Responsibility of data users:

Users of data from the Saudi Open Data Portal are responsible for ensuring that any reuse does not misrepresent the content, source, or lineage of the data. The data should be used exclusively for research and scientific purposes, not for commercial activities, while also respecting the ownership rights of Northern Borders University.

The university’s responsibility as a data provider through the open data portal:

• Northern Border University is not responsible for any damage or misuse to which entities are exposed because of using this data published on the electronic open data portal.

• The university does not bear any responsibility towards the users of this data and any damages that may occur to them.

• Northern Border University reserves the right to delete or modify open data on the open data portal.

Conditions for reuse of this data:

  • The data and its source must not be misrepresented.
  • This data must not be used for political purposes or to support illegal or criminal activity or to make racist or discriminatory comments, incitement, negative influence on culture, equality, incitement, or any activity that is irregular or contrary to the customs and traditions of the Kingdom.
  • It is mandatory to attribute its source to the university data via the Saudi Open Data Portal and include a link to uphold the data's intellectual property, credibility, and validity of its source.

Northern Borders University data usage guidelines:

  • The user has the right to access the required data by searching using keywords or the category in which the data is classified.
  • Users are entitled to download, open, browse, and work with data in Excel using the Excel program, enabling them to organize and filter the information as needed.
  • The user can integrate with other programs to use open data.
